Homestead Christmas

December 22 - 28, 2008

Bring the family for a very special Christmas in the mountains. There will be many activities for everyone to enjoy and the children will be delighted by a traditional visit from Santa.

This holiday season The Homestead is proud to present Philip Myers in an intimate acoustic show, "Christmas at The Homestead". Philip's incredible vocal talent has been featured in concert for three U.S. Presidents, and at hundreds of concerts throughout the world. He has shared the stage with numerous top entertainers, including Elton John, Celine Dion, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, John Denver, Ray Charles, and many others.This family variety show will feature over 25 classic holiday songs, accompanied by piano, and showcasing an incredibly talented up-and coming guitar prodigy, Ben Lapps, who will mesmerize you with his beautiful and unique playing style. The show is designed for the entire family, and will include a special section for the young people (and the young at heart!) Come and make a special Christmas 2008 memory as you and your loved ones enjoy an evening of beautiful holiday music. December 22nd and 23rd at 8:00p.m.

NEW YEAR'S EVE GRAND BALLROOM GALA

In the 1950s and 1960s, Las Vegas and Hollywood were ruled by the coolest cats of all time...the five men famously known as The Rat Pack. Their style and swagger injected pure cool into every venue they played, and it is that very essence that will be recreated by Drew Event Design at The Homestead's New Year's Eve Gala.

Drew Event Design's owner Stephanie Drew, CSEP, described the scene: "We'll compliment the big band sounds of Upper East Side featuring Adrian Duke and Charles Darden with décor that will be tasteful, inviting, and as smooth as the voice of old Blue Eyes himself. The design is inspired by the lines of a pinstripe suit, the sparkle of a crystal chandelier, and the glow of candlelight. I want to make guests feel like they've just walked into a swanky 1950s supper club."

Drew's design for The Homestead's gala is sure to please. The winner of the 2008 Events in Excellence Awards for Best Corporate Event, Best Event Décor, and Best Floral Design, her North Carolina-based company creates themed environments for corporate and social clients all up and down the East Coast. NEW YEAR'S EVE DINING ROOM

Offering an elegant, formal dinner and live music from THE CHARLOTTESVILLE SWING ORCHESTRA who have been performing jazz, swing and latin-based music at the highest level for close to twenty years.  Directed by acclaimed jazz trumpeter and arranger John D'earth and featuring stunning vocals by Dawn Thompson, the Swing Orchestra is known for its elegance, excitement and authenticity.

Winterfest Weekend

Golf & Sporting Clays Outing

August 13-16, 2009

Whether you are an avid golfer or a clay shooting aficionado, this is one event you won't want to miss.  Fire away at 18 stations of tournament sporting clays on Friday, followed by 18 holes of championship golf on Saturday.  The top six two-person teams in the Championship Flight will advance to the 2009 Golf and Sporting Clays Shoot-Out. 

In The Garden with The Experts

2009 USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship

The Homestead is delighted to host the 2009 USGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship next year.  This will be the eighth USGA Championship played on the Homestead's Cascades Course.
